Heather McIntyre is a level 1 NCCP coach and has several years of basketball coaching experience that spans across many different levels including high school, middle school, competitive bantam and mini divisions, as well as coaching the Special Olympics Unified Basketball team at Riverview High School.

Some highlights of her coaching career included winning the Female Hoop Classic with her Moncton High School Team in 2005 and competing in the Provincial Championship Finals the same year.

Heather was a multisport athlete but developed a passion for the game of basketball at a young age. Through her hard work and dedication, Heather became a top university recruit out of New Brunswick as a point guard.  Heather played a year at Dalhousie University, winning the AUS championship title with her team and had the opportunity to experience CIS Nationals.  After a year at Dalhousie, Heather transferred to Acadia University where she earned an AUS All-Star team selection in her final year.

Heather is a passionate advocate for the development of female athletes. Her belief in the power of sport and its role in developing young women as future leaders drives her love of coaching.  Heather values the role basketball plays in helping female athletes overcome adversity on and off the court.  She believes that it is working through that adversity that helps build the confidence and inner strength necessary to become strong, happy, successful and resilient young women.

Heather holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology and an Education Degree and is currently a Vice Principal at Riverview High School in Riverview, New Brunswick and is the founder of an all-female basketball program, High Hoops.  Heather has three children, Parker, Ava, and Bella and resides in Moncton with her life partner Rick and his four children, Ethan, Sam, Brooke and Lucas.
